DETAILS: Maine Mead Works, founded in 2007, continues the mission of re-introducing to the world the oldest of all fermented beverages—Mead. With the magic of wildflower honey, water, and their own proprietary yeast strain, they’ve been blending ancient tradition with modern science, year after year, to produce and perfect a highly distinctive beverage at their meadery here in Portland.
Join in on the Maine-made mead and cheese pairing during their weeklong Portland Wine Week offering that includes a full pour of their Semi-Sweet Mead paired with a portion of Silvery Moon's Fore River Tomme cheese. The cheese is aged for a minimum of three months and washed with the Semi Sweet Mead 38 times while aging at their farm in Westbrook, ME.
