TASTING: Cider is Wine @ East Ender

  • East Ender 47 Middle Street Portland, ME, 04101 United States (map)

DETAILS: East Ender will be joined by Maine-based cidermakers, Rocky Ground Cider and Cornish Cider, who will taste us on a variety of their products while we discuss our cider ethos: Cider is wine. Cider is made in the same way as wine soo we find it strange when it is lumped alongside beer. We look forward to furthering the discussion with all of you! Join us, babe!

Angus and Abbey from Rocky Ground will pour: Avalonia (a still cider), Bow and Stern, and Ruffian (fermented with Rowan berries). They will be discussing the wild apples of Maine and their foraging process. Rocky Ground’s approach to cider making begins with the apples themselves, and they will be reviewing some existential threats to apples in Maine.

Jacqueline and Jared Carr of Cornish Cider will also present: Pouring Common Fruit, Odd Barrel and Last Picks (a new bottling) and possibly one or two surprise single varietals. They will be discussing their business journey and where they hope to bring it and Maine cidermaking in the future.

COST: $45 (does not include tax and gratuity)
