DETAILS: ViA VECCHiA cordially invites you to join us as we welcome Mary Taylor of Mary Taylor Wines. Mary Taylor partners with true artisans, grape growers who farm their land respectfully and produce their own wines. While the majority of wineries in the Mary Taylor portfolio are independent, there are also two small French co-operatives, one in Bordeaux, and the other in in Saint-Pourcain, whose viticulture practices align with their values of sustainability, minimal intervention, and artisanship.
The priority is to highlight the true diversity of terroirs (the specific site where the grapes grow). As a result, the producers uniformly employ little-to-no intervention on winemaking, such as no filtration, limiting the amount of sulfur added before bottling, and allowing the fermentations to take place with natural and local yeast strains. They also avoid using overly-intrusive, new oak barrells in order to emphasize the underlying expression of vintage, grape, and place.
During this very special appearance, Mary Taylor will be discussing the ethos of her wine portfolio. “Think Outside the Grape” will be held indoors in the expansive private backspace of ViA VECCHiA. Chris Peterman will also be part of this event. Mr Peterman is the Wine Director and Sommelier of Via Vecchia, and owner of Hart and Harp Wines, the sole distributor of Mary Taylor Wines in Maine.
